Interview with Mikey, winner of our NZ contest
What’s your favourite part about riding?
I like the feeling of working with an animal and teaching it to do new things. I like learning dressage moves. Most of all I love their personalities.
What made you get into competing?
I started competing when Mum took me to shows in the Lead Rein section. Now I love it.
What do you do for fun when you’re not riding?
Have friends over, but we usually end up going to the ponies then too.
What do you love most about your ponies?
I love Nico’s sweet nature, he’s super friendly and always makes me laugh. Dew I love because she’s so smart and tries so hard for me.
If you could go visit anywhere in the world, where would you go?
England
Do you have any other pets?
- Ronnie our cat
- Baxter our dog
- A few gold fish
- 3 Kune Kune pigs, Madam, Rocky and Sumo and
- 2 Alpacas
What do you want to be when you’re older?
A professional horse rider or a sports psychologist

Butter Chicken

Do you have any brothers and sisters?
Twin Brothers that are 6 years old
What’s it like to know you have a cartoon character created to be you?
It’s very exciting, I can’t wait to see her and read about her.
How did you react when you found out you won?
I just started giggling, and saying really? I thought mum was tricking me
Have you told your friends that you have a cartoon character?
I’ve only told a couple of friends, and they think its really cool too.
Do you have an idol? If yes, who and why?
Yes Charlotte Dujardin. She’s such an amazing dressage rider.
I also really look up to NZ dressage riders Abbie Deken and Vanessa Way because they are amazing dressage riders too, and work so hard and are so kind and helpful to me.
